Frequently Asked Questions

A certificate bearing the Il Gattopardo crest, drawn in the old Sicilian style, with a Don or Donna honorific title inscribed to your chosen name. It comes with dedicated Sicilian land, held in name and in spirit. The certificate is emailed as a PDF within minutes of purchase and can be printed and framed at home, or we print, frame and post it to you (US only).

Dedicated land in the hills of the Peloritani, north of Taormina, above the Ionian Sea, named to you on your uniquely numbered certificate. It gives you a named, numbered connection to one particular corner of Sicily.

From the Latin dominus, lord or master of the house, worn down in speech to a single syllable. It reached Sicily through four centuries of Spanish rule, where don and doña were already the mark of a gentleman and a lady, and it always goes before the first name, never the surname. For centuries it has been how the island marks respect, for the head of a family, a teacher, a priest, the person a village defers to: something a community grants rather than a state confers. We wrote the full story on The Origin of Don.

By email, as a PDF, within minutes of purchase. You can print it at home, forward it to a recipient as a gift, or choose printing and framing on the order page and we post it to you (US only). Checkout itself asks nothing about printing.

Absolutely, it is primarily a gift. Tick 'This is a gift' when you order and give the recipient's email address, and the certificate goes straight to them the moment you pay, with a copy to you. You can also add a personal message, which we include in their email.

Yes. On the order page, choose Printed ($30, US only) and we post the printed certificate to you. Choose Printed & framed ($89) and it arrives ready to hang. Outside the US, the PDF prints beautifully at home on A4 or letter paper.

Two names, a Don and a Donna, for $119.95. Choose two certificates, each with its own number, or one certificate naming you both. Printing two sheets is $45 and framing them is $89 more; one sheet prints for $30 and frames for $59 more.

The PDF certificate is emailed within minutes of purchase, automatically. Printed and framed pieces usually leave the same business day and take 3 to 7 business days by US mail. We email you the day yours is posted.

Your title, your certificate, and your plot are refunded 100%, for any reason, for 30 days. Write to us at hello@terradelgattopardo.com and it is done, no explanation needed and nothing to send back. A printed or framed piece is refunded in full too if you tell us before we post it; once it is posted it carries your name and cannot be resold, so the printing and framing are final. If a printed piece arrives damaged, incorrect, or not as described, send us a photo and we will reprint it free or refund it, whichever you prefer. Full details on our Refunds page.

Digital certificates are delivered by email worldwide, instantly. Printed and framed physical certificates are currently available for US delivery only.
